Horse Bronze Sculpture: Portrait of Danseur
This is a Bronze Sculpture of a Horse that was made and cast in Fall 2024 at the UCSC foundry.
Originally sculpted in clay, the figure goes through several stages until it becomes a finished bronze piece. Molds are made of the clay model, which allow a wax version to be created. A ceramic shell is built around the wax, which is then melted (/lost), leaving the shell empty. Bronze is poured into the shell, and later cleaned-up, polished, and patina.
